Grand Opening of Kroger Marketplace® Celebrated in Valley Ranch Town Center
April 05, 2017 The Signorelli Company joined The Kroger Co. today to celebrate the grand opening of a new 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace® in Valley Ranch Town Center. Master-planned to include 1.5 million square feet of retail, dining, hospitality, entertainment and civic venues now open or soon to open, Valley Ranch Town Center is situated within the 1,400-acre master-planned community of Valley Ranch, at the epicenter of growth in the Northeast Houston corridor at I69/99, just north of Kingwood. Developed by The Signorelli Company, Valley Ranch Town Center is the largest retail project currently underway in the Houston area. Kroger Marketplace® is the latest in an eclectic mix of more than 85 local and national retailers to open in the 240-acre center. Academy Sports + Outdoors, Sam’s Club, Party City, Hobby Lobby, Panda Express, Sally Beauty, SportClips, Supercuts and Subway are already open, with Chilis opening on April 17th, plus dozens of other stores. “With the opening of Kroger Marketplace®, we are approaching critical mass at Valley Ranch Town Center,” said Daniel Signorelli, President and CEO of The Signorelli Company. “This landmark development has created over 700 jobs to date in East Montgomery County, and has helped put this area on the map in terms of quality retail growth. The stores that are now open at Valley Ranch Town Center are enjoying the benefits of pent up demand for quality goods and services in our rapidly growing area.” “We are proud once again to be celebrating a grand opening in Valley Ranch Town Center,” said Frank McCrady, President of the East Montgomery County Improvement District. “We welcome Kroger, ranked by Forbes in 2010 as the most generous company in the U.S., and commend them on their decision to expand their Marketplace brand in Valley Ranch Town Center. This development is a boon to the economy of our community, and our residents are very receptive and excited to have new places to shop, dine and be entertained. We have waited a long time for stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues of this caliber.” The new Kroger Marketplace® features a Kroger Fuel Center and Kroger Pharmacy, and will offer customers a food-centric experience with chef-prepared bites and pastries, locally grown fruits and vegetables, specialty eats from Murray’s Cheese, Starbucks, premium-cut meats, fresh seafood, organic choices, international fare, full-bodied wines and craft beers. In addition to traditional grocery products and on-site food services, the Marketplace will have home goods and décor, kitchenware, small appliances, children’s toys, and contemporary clothing for the whole family. It’s a one-stop shopping experience for local residents and visitors to Valley Ranch Town Center. In alignment with Kroger’s distinction as the most generous company in the U.S., the new Kroger Marketplace® will support charitable organizations through its annual $1.5 million Kroger Community Rewards fundraiser program, volunteerism, financial gifts, and daily fresh food donations. Kroger will also help shoppers save money by accepting print and digital coupons; allowing customers to earn Fuel Reward points redeemable at Kroger Fuel Centers locations and participating Shell stations; and providing other deals and savings opportunities to leave customers feeling highly satisfied. “We’re thrilled to open our 14th Kroger Marketplace in the Greater Houston Area,” says Joy Partain, public affairs manager for Kroger. “We’ve operated in Easter Montgomery County since 1985. The additional of our second Marketplace to the region speaks to the county’s existing population and projected growth.” To add a personal touch to the Marketplace store, Kroger partnered with a local artist/New Caney High School graduate (’98), Lowell Shapley, to do a mural in the café. The piece shows the historical roots of the region. The 505,000-square-foot first phase of Valley Ranch Town Center is nearly complete, and the infrastructure for the second phase is nearing completion, according to Signorelli. The lineup is led by Burlington, TJ Maxx, Ross, PetSmart and Rack Room Shoes, along with the first anchor in the Entertainment District, Cinemark’s NextGen® all recliner prototype theater with 10 screens. Signorelli says that the second phase should open in late 2017, along with a dozen pad sites and approximately 20,000 square feet of shop space. This phase will add nearly 320,000 square feet to the center. The Cinemark Theatre will be the first element in the planned Entertainment District within Valley Ranch Town Center. Also planned is a 13,500-seat outdoor amphitheater for concerts and events, a family-oriented, multi-attraction entertainment venue, and a ‘splash pad’ water feature. Town Grove, a 135-acre park that borders Valley Ranch Town Center, features serene lakes and will be a natural gathering place for special events. New Caney ISD’s Texan Drive Stadium and new Aquatic Center plus Ed Rinehart Park are other civic elements that bring people to enjoy all the excitement Valley Ranch Town Center has to offer.
